"I'm Not a Monster" Shelter Drive

Local Rescues Receive Donations From A ‘Monster’

Rocky, a rescued bully breed mix, is the face of the I’m Not a Monster Holiday Shelter Drive for the Tampa Bay area. For the Holiday 2017 Drive Rocky collected a total of $65,843.29 in toys, blankets, medicine, food, treats and other enrichment items for Tampa’s local homeless dogs and cats. Rocky, a rescue dog himself, believes in “paying it / pawing it forward” and the donations he collected for the 2017 Drive helped support 5 different rescues in the Tampa Bay / St Pete area including Rugaz Rescue, Pibbles to the Rescue, Raffle Rescue, Domestic Violence Pet Haven, and St. Francis Society Animal Rescue.

The “Monster” Holiday Drive was founded to spread holiday cheer to homeless pets in shelters and temporary boarding facilities by donating much needed treats, food and supplies. The drive was designed to be like a “toys for tots” but for dogs & cats. One of the main goals of the drive is to unite caring, compassionate citizens for a common cause - to shine a light on the plight of homeless pets. Homeless pets are not “Monsters” – they can be some of the most loving, playful and loyal animals if just given the chance. By having “Monster” elves in numerous cities across the country, the drive becomes very personal as it helps LOCAL communities improve the image and wellbeing of pets looking for forever homes to call their own.

The “Monster” Holiday Drive has become the nation’s largest crowd-sourced donation drive, raising over $870,000 nationwide in 2017 and over $2.6m since inception. The drive consists of 60 “Monster” Elves supporting more than 125 shelters and rescues and followed by over 2 million caring animal lovers and animal advocates on social media. No other organization has done a campaign on a nationwide scale such as this. The overwhelming support received for the drive shows that people want to become involved and make a positive impact to improve animal welfare. Everyone can play a part in making this a success, whether it’s donating a bag of dog food or talking to local businesses to offer discounted pricing. Everything adds up and the drive is proof that anyone can make a difference. Learn more at
